Country Days Draws Large Crowd
Despite several rain showers that temporarily delayed some activities, the 2018 edition of Country Days –the annual community celebration each June – was a huge success again this year. Large crowds packed the midway on Friday, and Sunday afternoon. The annual parade on Saturday attracted a record number of entries this year.
The event's theme centered around the 1939 M-G-M movie, Wizard of Oz. Because this was the 40th edition of Country Days, and 40 stands for rubies and rubies were featured on Dorothy's slippers. At any rate, the idea worked well and was widely adopted in special Wizard displays in storefronts around town and on many of the floats. The actual theme, prominent in the film, was There's No Place Like Home.
Mr. and Mrs. Country Days this year were Janet Douglas and Jon Cozean. Featured music attractions included were Maggie Rose on Friday and Jameson Rodgers on Saturday. Others included Brennin, Faith and Family, the Berry Brothers and The Lesters.
